Is it Cold & Flu Season or Sugar Season??

    The month of October starts the sugar season, which really is Cold & Flu Season!!  Dr. Christopher always taught people that if they ate right then their bodies would be strong and not susceptible to all the germs that are causing the illness to spread. I have found this to be true. In the past I would buy Halloween candy the first part of October and I would end up eating it all. I would buy more for the kiddo’s and pick some up the day after Halloween at half price. Then continue on with the high sugar consumption through Thanksgiving and Christmas and on until the end of the year! I would get sick and stay sick for at least six weeks and always during Christmas and that is no way to spend Christmas every year!

    I would make a batch of Dr. Christopher’s Anti Plague formula (Christopher’s Super Garlic Immune Formula) every 18 months. This is about a gallon of the formula, and as a family three of us could go through it that fast. My husband couldn’t handle the liquid formula, so I was happy when Western Botanicals came out with it in capsules now called Immu-Defense available in liquid. Ugh, Sinus Infection

    Both my husband and I could feel something coming on over the weekend and unfortunately we did get sick.  I had been taking my homemade Anti-Plague all weekend and it was keeping my sinus passages clear during the day, but when I laid down at night nothing good was happening.

    I know a lot of people that suffer with Sinus Infections but I have never had one. By Monday I had lost my sense of smell and had to call someone and ask if losing your sense of smell was a sign of a Sinus Infection and they confirmed that it was. I got out my netipot and added some colloidal silver to it and used it a several times to help fight the infection, as well as taking more Anti Plague which is the same as Dr. Christopher’s Super Garlic Immune Formula. I also went to my Chiropractor and he did a cranial adjustment that was magic to relieve the pressure in my head. I am also using the Garden Essence Respiratory Congestion blend, so weird to not be able to smell it, but I know it is doing me good to use it!

    I feel much better today than I did yesterday and will continue doing all three until things are cleared up! I like having a variety of herbs and oils available so that when something crops up, and it always does, I’m ready! Goldenseal Combination, my new favorite flu remedy!

    On Easter Sunday we had no indication that we were going to be sick. We went to church, had lunch with family and visited throughout the day. We headed home about 5:00 and I noticed that my husband Don’s voice sounded a bit like he was getting a cold. By the time we got home Don had to have a nap and when got up a while later he was feeling a bit worse. He took a hot bath and took Immu-Defense in hopes of burning it off, but by the time he went to bed he was feeling quite sick.

     Don missed work the next day, and I was feeling a bit of a sore throat so took the Immu-Defense throughout the day.  I was out running errands after work and even though I had a few more things to do felt like I just needed to go home. Baby It's Cold Outside!

Winter is not the best time to ship liquids to states that are experiencing very cold temperatures. We ship from Utah and it has been below freezing here for most of this new year.   Liquids can FREEZE in the winter months.  Alcohol extracts freeze at -10 degrees, glycerin at 15 degrees.  It may be best to wait until the weather is warmer or ship the quickest method. Sometimes I go to the doctor

I had a little kitchen mishap the other night while preparing dinner.  I had the disposal running while holding a knife.  The knife slipped and fell into the disposal and spun around and cut my hand.  I am the type of person that avoids going to the doctor unless it is absolutely necessary, but being a person that prefers self-doctoring it is also best to be wise about the situation.  The cut was in a tricky place, between my finger and thumb so I decided it best to go and get stitches. 

    We got to the Instacare where a doctor took a quick peek to make sure they could handle it and then I went to wait my turn in the waiting room. There were mostly parents with children. One child had an ear infection.  I mentioned to the mom that we were able to handle ear infections at home with Herbal Ear Drops.     I finally got my turn and talked a bit with the doctor as he stitched me up.  I learned that cuts need to be stitched within 12 hours.  If a person goes longer than that they will not stitch it due ito the chances of infection.  I was happy I got right in, because I knew this spot would just burst open over and over again since it is in such a high movement place.  I got 7 stitches and it cost a pretty penny since we are not insured. I'm changing the bandage twice or more a day and putting the Complete Tissue & Bone Ointment on it to aid in the healing. I did the right thing and I should be good to prepare a nice Thanksgiving Dinner for my family!

A few Essential Oils Success Stories!

We know quite a few people that belong to one or another of the network marketed essential oil companies, so I often hear some good healing stories. A recent one I heard was about a gal that had Graves Disease which causes hyperactive thyroid. She had the radioactive iodine treatment which kills off the thyroid, and went from having symptoms of overactive thyroid to pretty near dead thyroid function. After the fact she was quite concerned over what she had done to herself. A woman moved into her neighborhood that was into using the essential oils and let her know that Frankincense and Lemongrass would help bring the function back. She used it on her neck at thyroid area and a few months later, testing was showing some thyroid function returning, and several months after that even more function. I had radioactive iodine when I was twenty Doctors never told me that doing such would make me infertile. I was too young to even be thinking about this choice ruining my chances of ever becoming pregnant. So, here I am at 52, not planning on becoming pregnant, but am using the three oils to see what they will do for me. I sure would like to get more thyroid function back and get my hormones more balanced. It will be some time before I will be getting any thyroid tests done, but I will update when that happens. I love natural medicine and the fact that they can undo what unnatural medicine has done. I have tried for years to correct this problem with the herbs without success, so my hopes are up that I will finally succeed!

Another great healing story related to me was about a three year old child that suddenly started having about 20 seizures a day. The doctors put the child on quite a few medications which made her seizure free but unable to function, was falling down all the time, unable to talk normally, etc. Some friends heard about the problem and brought the family some Frankincense which they immediately started using on the child's feet. Within a few weeks she was able to get off all of the medication and remains seizure free, and is back to normal. Amazing!

The answer to “When is the best time to stock up on _______ formula?” Before you need it!!! If you wait until you need one of these lifesaving formulas you are wasting precious healing time. It is worth it to have a variety of formula on hand so you have it when you need it.

One day after getting my kids to school I felt that I was getting hit by a nasty illness of some sort. I didn’t have any Anti-Plague (now Super Garlic Immune Formula) on hand and had to drive over to the Herb Shop to pick up a bottle. I got home and fell into bed, I felt so horrible. I put the bottle by the bed and took a swig about every fifteen minutes. As the day went on I could feel myself getting better little by little, and by the time I needed to pick my kids up from school I was a new woman. Staying Healthy from Infancy to the over 100 Year Old

My daughter recently got sick and posted on Facebook, “I’m not happy with whoever got me sick”. My kids were raised using these wonderful herbs but now that they are in their twenties and on their own they have become a bit stubborn about taking them. Hopefully they will make the connection that the food they eat affects their immune system.

The Dreaded Anti-Plague

I was having what I thought was a severe hayfever attack a few weeks ago. I was using the Sinus Allergy Formula along with the Immucalm and by the third day I finally realized that along with the hayfever I had gotten a bad cold. The worst part about getting sick is it is harder to get rid of it once you have it.

I started taking the Infection Formula and Immune System Formula and after a few days realized that I needed to use something more powerful....the dreaded Anti-Plague, which is also known as Super Garlic Immune Formula. I call it the dreaded Anti-Plague because it tastes so horrible and I work hard to not get sick so I don’t have to take it.

I like to make my own Anti-Plague, and the stuff I had in my refrigerator was made back in April 2000. People often ask how long it will last because Dr. Christopher talked about making a batch to have on hand when you need it. I’ve never used it that old before, but I haven’t gotten sick in years, so still had it on hand. I have to say that my ten year old Anti Plague worked fine, I was able to get over it in four days by taking it every waking hour.

It is time to make up a new batch, because that was the end of what I had. I like to make it so that I can put the comfrey in it, which manufacturers aren’t allowed to do anymore. We have a great little Anti Plague kit, you can get the cut herb for making the syrup, or the powdered herb for putting into capsules. If you do get the powder keep in mind that the whole batch needs to be capsulized so that it will keep it potency Capsulized herbs are good for about ten years since there is very little oxygen in them to make them lose their potency.

We have the Super Garlic Immune Formula Syrup or extract from Christopher’s, or the Anti Plague Syrup or capsules from Western Botanicals for people that don’t have the time or inclination to do it themselves. This is definitely the formula to have on hand and one that has saved me many times. Start the kids with it when they are young, I had my son taking it at three years of age and he still uses it now that he is 21 because he knows it works.

January - a good time for a 3 day cleanse

I live in a very beautiful state, but in the winter we get what is called a temperature inversion where it is warmer in the higher elevations which traps the pollution in the lower elevations. We experience this every winter and the air quality gets so bad that at times the news reports are telling people to not do things outside if they don’t need to. My husband and I like to go on walks in spite of the cold weather, but after a few days of breathing the guk we could both feel it in our lungs and decided to not walk until the weather changes. We take the Lung and Bronchial all winter to help keep our lungs clear and then in this weather we add either the Infection Formula or the Anti Plague capsules. Luckily neither one of us has gotten sick and I credit it to the fact that we always have the herbs on hand that we may need.

I have talked to a lot of sick people lately and I think it is because after two months of indulgence people’s immune systems are shot. If you are one of these people a good way to turn things around is with a three day cleanse. Here is an excerpt taken from the Three Day Cleanse and Mucusless Diet by Dr. John R. Christopher.

“Supreme cleanliness is the first step toward a healthy body. Any accumulation or retention of morbid matter or waste of any kind within us will retard our progress towards recovery. The natural eliminative channels are the lungs, the pores of the skin, the kidneys, and the bowels.

The retention of body waste has an insidious effect on our health than is generally suspected, and its elimination is one of the first steps toward perceptible progress.

To begin the three day cleansing program, the individual is required to undergo three days of detoxification therapy, then proceed with the mucusless diet:

First thing in the morning upon arising, drink 16 ounces or more of prune juice (unsweetened, if possible). The prune juice is not primarily to empty the bowels, which it will do, but rather to draw into the intestines from every part of the body such toxic matter or body waste as may be there, and eliminate it through the bowels.

After beginning with the sixteen ounces of prune juice, within one half hour take an eight ounce glass of undiluted apple juice. Swish each mouthful thoroughly (called chewing). Then, 30 minutes later drink a glass of plain water (preferably distilled), followed 30 minutes later with more apple juice.

The general procedure is: 16 oz. of prune juice first thing in the morning, then, 8 oz. of apple juice 30 minutes later, and 8 oz. of distilled water after that; repeating the juice and distilled water each 30 minutes throughout the day. One gallon of apple juice is consumed each day for an average size adult, or one ounce per pound of body weight. (This of course is an approximate and suggested dosage, as age, ability to hold liquids, etc., determine the capacity for each specific case.)

Breaking up the mucus during the juice cleanse generally causes constipation throughout the three days. Use more prune juice or take Dr. Christopher's Lower Bowel Formula.

Repeat this detoxification for 3 consecutive days. Thus, approximately three gallons of mucus and catarrh will have been eliminated and will have been replaced by three gallons of juice. This has resulted in speeding up the re-alkalinizing of the system.

During the three-day cleanse, take one or two tablespoons of olive oil three times a day, to aid in lubricating bile and liver ducts, etc.

On the fourth and subsequent days, we begin taking vegetable and fruit juices, along with raw fruits and vegetables. Then follow the mucusless diet as close as possible. Do not be concerned if you feel weak during or after this detoxification. Our bodies are using the energies for internal housecleaning, soon an increase of energy will occur as a result of a cleaner healthier body.”

I had a gal email me last week and in the subject line it said “Help!!! Emergency!!!” The email said: “ I have a bad case of hives and cannot think straight. I'm using Sinus Plus and the Brigham tea and blood purifier and BF and C and calamine lotion. I cannot move without swelling. ”

The good thing is that she tried something, it didn’t work, but was worth a try. My suggestion of what I would do was to take a Chickweed Tea bath, and Immucalm. She mentioned that she didn’t have any and there was not Christopher’s available in their local store. I could tell that she was desperate so suggested getting the ingredients of Marshmallow and Astragalus and take them. Here is what she said the next day. “ God Bless You!, Girl, I certainly thank you for your assistance. The bath was great. The hives are calming down some. I found the marshmallow root capsules and astragalus and mixed them together for the Immucalm tea. I slept really good for the first night in 3 nights.”

It is hard to have everything on hand, but allergic reaction is something that can happen to anyone, so having Immucalm on hand might possibly have gotten things under control much quicker and is one that I always have at home. Chickweed isn’t something I have on hand, but in the case of incredible skin problems was the best choice at hand and easy to pick up at most health food stores.

Another interesting case in the past few weeks happened to my brother-in-law. They use herbs quite a bit, but also use regular medicine. He got a mosquito bite and scratched it. It soon swelled up into a boil and by the time I heard about it his whole leg was swollen and I was asking if there was a red stripe up and down his leg, which wasn’t the case at the moment. I suggested Tea Tree oil which I thought would be easy to get at a local store. I called the next day to find out that my sister had been gone to a girl scout camp so nothing was purchased and when she got back there was a red stripe and my brother-in-law was admitted to the hospital with a staph infection. This case would have been pretty simple to take care of in the beginning with Plantain (which I know grows where they live) made into a poultice to pull out the poison or the Stings and Bites Ointment. Now days later being admitted into the hospital I was quite worried. Luckily he is ok, but all he went through could have been easily avoided had they known, or asked what to do.

Suzy's Second Road Trip

About six weeks ago we went up to Washington to help clean up my dad's house so it could be sold. My husband and I put in 11 days there and my brother 9 days, putting a sign out as he headed back home. The good news is the home sold in one day, I guess we did a good job. The bad news is my dad is still in the rehabilitation center trying to get better, but things have gotten much worse for him. He's on dialysis and twice they gave him heprin at the end of the treatment even though it was on the chart that he is allergic to it. He couldn't stop bleeding so they took him to the ER. The first time my brother was still there and I had him give him a tsp. of cayenne in water. The care center sent him to the ER, and my dad felt that the cayenne really helped. The second time he didn't get the cayenne and after getting back to the care center he fell in the bathroom and hit his head. In the morning they came in and found that he had had a stroke. The heprin made him too prone to bleed and he was back in the hospital for a few days until things were better. We got up there on the October 30th to help clear out the house for the sale and felt something was wrong so took him back to the hospital and he had had another stroke. Sad days, I'm not ready to be an orphan. In the above photo that is my Dad, myself, and the gal holding the baby is my sister who has her little miracle baby Nicolas. Linda is 39 and got pregnant via IVF, one reason to like doctors.

We cleared the house out which took an entire week. Dad doesn't understand that he is going to die, wants to go live in Las Vegas with his wife who he just married in June. We aren't sure how to handle that at this time, but his wife keeps holding onto him getting better. If you click on the photo to enlarge it you will notice that he is quite yellow. His liver is shutting down, the kidneys of course, and they have started giving him insulin so the pancreas as well. Sad days of modern medicine.

We headed back home on Saturday Nov. 7th with the van loaded to the hilt. My husband is a master packer and left just enough room for the dogs. The little white one is my dad's wife's dog who is headed back to Vegas, we'll take him as far as our house.

I had a little headache as we were leaving in the morning but just figured it was due to sleeping on a blow up mattress for a few nights, very little sleep, etc. By the time we were coming into Boise it was really getting intense and I thought to myself that the day before I had been around several sick people that came to help with the final clean up and I had better get some herbs into me before it was too late. We stopped for gas and luckily I could get to the Glandular Oil/X-Plague, Immune System Formula and Anti Plague capsules. I got all dosed up and away we went. Within an hour the headache was gone, which means I made the right conclusion at the right moment before things got worse, and I'm grateful for that. I don't enjoy being sick and I don't have time to be sick. I took more of the above herbs and oils and woke up this morning feeling fine, but will continue on for a day or two to make sure.
