I grew up on one herbal remedy and that was Comfrey Extract. My mom learned how to make this extract when my little sister was sick with the croup.  She had been in the hospital and I remember my sister coming home and having a tent over her bed with the humidifier going.  The Comfrey saved her life and our family used Comfrey Extract from then on.  We moved around the US and the comfrey plant moved with us from Utah to California to South Carolina and then to Washington where my parents settled.  I was given a root of the plant, and it is growing in my yard today, as well as the yards of many other people that I have shared it with.  Until I became a parent, that was the only herb that I ever used.  Then things changed for the better....

When my daughter Valerie was in second grade she had an assignment to write about each member of her family.  Here is what she wrote about me: “My Mom is almost a doctor”.  This statement makes me smile and wonder what the teacher thought.  I know that at that point in time my seven year old couldn’t remember going to the doctor, though when my kids were little we had lots of trips to the doctor for ear infections.  This got to be very expensive and rather tiresome, especially with my son Kyle who never got better with all of the different antibiotics. 

An early lesson I learned was that a little bottle of Herbal Ear Drops that costs less than $10.00 can save a family hundreds and hundreds of dollars and many sleepless nights.  We  found some garlic ear drops when Kyle was three years old and that ended his battle with ear infections. I keep the bottle refrigerated and replace it every two years since oil does go rancid.

Unfortunately the multiple ear infections caused some hearing loss and Kyle was developmentally delayed, so he attended preschool to help him catch up.  Before this time this little guy was sick for three weeks and well for two days all winter long. One of the first Christopher formulas that I learned about was Anti Plague, which is now called Super Garlic Immune Formula.  Kyle would take a dose of Anti Plague every day he was well and three to six times a day when he was sick.  After a year of this he became our healthy one. We quickly started to learn that if you treat something as soon as the symptoms occur that we could avoid illness.  Our kids were rarely sick and hardly ever missed school after this time.

Tea Tree Oil to the Rescue!

Over the past few months I have had a strange problem with the inside of my
cheeks. It hurt like a canker hurts, but was just about the entire cheek on both sides of the inside of my mouth. My cheeks looked a bit red and not really like a canker, just felt like a huge one. I started out with taking l-Lysine which is what usually helps for cankers, and it cleared up for a while but then came back. It burned incredibly when I ate any fresh foods such as tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, etc. Not fun at all.

I have used Tea Tree Oil in the past for cankers, so I started just putting a drop or two on my toothbrush at night. Tea Tree Oil is the essential oil from the Australian plant Melaleuca alternifolia. This oil is anti-fungal, antibacterial, antibiotic, anti-microbial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Tea Tree Oil should be in any home and used for any infection or skin problem that crops up, so in this case a good one to try.

Tea Tree Oil really isn’t a tasty option, but I was clueless what the problem was, so decided to give it a whirl. First thing I noticed after a few days is that my teeth looked whiter. My two eye teeth have always been a bit darker in color than my other teeth, but now they are all the same color. I haven’t bleached my teeth, so they are just a nice clean natural color that I am now very happy with. I have had to continue with the Tea Tree Oil on my toothbrush nightly, but after about a month the insides of my cheeks finally cleared up.

I have also had a funny bumpy spot on my elbow that I have used Tea Tree Oil on, as well as other oils, all the ointments, etc. I quit messing with it a few weeks ago, got tired of nothing working, but the Tea Tree Oil that I was getting internally through brushing my teeth and having it in my mouth finally did the trick. It has almost cleared up and by the looks of it should be back to normal in the next few days.

Tea Tree Oil is a great little oil to have on hand, I keep the 2 oz bottle in the house and the 15 ml. for the travel kit. You
can really get your money’s worth out of a bottle, well worth it to have when you need it.

Herbal Ear Drops

I wish that people could take their kids to the doctor with an ear infection and he would say, we have this wonderful oil for ear infections for less than $10.00. It would certainly make the news and people would have this little bottle of oil in their homes and likely never have to take their kids to the doctor for an ear infection again. And not only that, this bottle will last about two years and take care of many ear infections in the family. Wouldn’t that be great??? You could save a lot of money, and a lot of misery with one bottle of Herbal Ear Drops.

We did the doctor route when our kids were young. We had the problem of the ear infections not getting cleared up and multiple doctors visits along with multiple prescriptions for that one infection, only to go through it all again a few months later. An ear scope can be bought for under $20.00 at a medical supply store and comes with a guide to help you to identify ear infections. Well worth it to add one of those to your first aid kit. Don’t put the Herbal Ear Drops into the ear if the ear drum has burst, just rub on the outside of the ear opening and from the back of the ear and down the throat as above. With the high cost of health care and prescriptions, Herbal Ear Drops will pay for itself many times over.
