January - a good time for a 3 day cleanse

I live in a very beautiful state, but in the winter we get what is called a temperature inversion where it is warmer in the higher elevations which traps the pollution in the lower elevations. We experience this every winter and the air quality gets so bad that at times the news reports are telling people to not do things outside if they don’t need to. My husband and I like to go on walks in spite of the cold weather, but after a few days of breathing the guk we could both feel it in our lungs and decided to not walk until the weather changes. We take the Lung and Bronchial all winter to help keep our lungs clear and then in this weather we add either the Infection Formula or the Anti Plague capsules. Luckily neither one of us has gotten sick and I credit it to the fact that we always have the herbs on hand that we may need.

I have talked to a lot of sick people lately and I think it is because after two months of indulgence people’s immune systems are shot. If you are one of these people a good way to turn things around is with a three day cleanse. Here is an excerpt taken from the Three Day Cleanse and Mucusless Diet by Dr. John R. Christopher.

“Supreme cleanliness is the first step toward a healthy body. Any accumulation or retention of morbid matter or waste of any kind within us will retard our progress towards recovery. The natural eliminative channels are the lungs, the pores of the skin, the kidneys, and the bowels.

The retention of body waste has an insidious effect on our health than is generally suspected, and its elimination is one of the first steps toward perceptible progress.

To begin the three day cleansing program, the individual is required to undergo three days of detoxification therapy, then proceed with the mucusless diet:

First thing in the morning upon arising, drink 16 ounces or more of prune juice (unsweetened, if possible). The prune juice is not primarily to empty the bowels, which it will do, but rather to draw into the intestines from every part of the body such toxic matter or body waste as may be there, and eliminate it through the bowels.

After beginning with the sixteen ounces of prune juice, within one half hour take an eight ounce glass of undiluted apple juice. Swish each mouthful thoroughly (called chewing). Then, 30 minutes later drink a glass of plain water (preferably distilled), followed 30 minutes later with more apple juice.

The general procedure is: 16 oz. of prune juice first thing in the morning, then, 8 oz. of apple juice 30 minutes later, and 8 oz. of distilled water after that; repeating the juice and distilled water each 30 minutes throughout the day. One gallon of apple juice is consumed each day for an average size adult, or one ounce per pound of body weight. (This of course is an approximate and suggested dosage, as age, ability to hold liquids, etc., determine the capacity for each specific case.)

Breaking up the mucus during the juice cleanse generally causes constipation throughout the three days. Use more prune juice or take Dr. Christopher's Lower Bowel Formula.

Repeat this detoxification for 3 consecutive days. Thus, approximately three gallons of mucus and catarrh will have been eliminated and will have been replaced by three gallons of juice. This has resulted in speeding up the re-alkalinizing of the system.

During the three-day cleanse, take one or two tablespoons of olive oil three times a day, to aid in lubricating bile and liver ducts, etc.

On the fourth and subsequent days, we begin taking vegetable and fruit juices, along with raw fruits and vegetables. Then follow the mucusless diet as close as possible. Do not be concerned if you feel weak during or after this detoxification. Our bodies are using the energies for internal housecleaning, soon an increase of energy will occur as a result of a cleaner healthier body.”

Health Care Reform Starts At Home

It is interesting to follow the progress on the health care reform bill that is taking place in the United States and people’s differing ideas on what needs to happen to make it all work. One of the issues is the fact that the new plan won’t cover everyone, and partly the reason is that is that not everyone wants to be covered! One big issue that isn’t being discussed is that many health problems are diet related. We have the best health care available in the world, but people aren’t eating right so we are the unhealthiest nation in the world. Sad news. More and more people are understanding that diet is the culprit and making diet changes that will change their lives for the better.

The past few months I have been reaching for a bottle of ginger capsules. I’ve been amazed at what this little herb/spice can do for me. The other day as I was waking up I realized that I had a symptom of a migraine coming on. I took some ginger and the symptom went away. Last month I took ginger a few hours before getting on an airplane and noticed for the first time ever that I didn’t fall asleep on the plane and didn’t have the jet lag at the end of the trip. I have taken ginger quite a few times when I feel like a deadhead and it gets my brain out of the fog and gives me energy for the rest of the day. When I know we are going to be driving on a windy road I take ginger before we go and don’t get nauseous. Ginger worked wonders for my dog on our road trips, I was amazed at how the ginger kept her tummy happy on a 12 hour trip.

I read through quite a few of the articles available on the Herbal Legacy website and it talks about Ginger helping with inflammation in arthritis, being better than the NSAID drugs. Ginger regulates blood sugar, is an effective blood thinner preventing strokes, lowers serum cholesterol, increases sperm motility, promotes the production of saliva which is great for people with dry mouth syndrome. Ginger eases the pains of gas and cramping as well as menstrual cramps. The list goes on, put ginger in the search at Herbal Legacy to read more uses of ginger.

I like to take responsibility for my family’s health and we have done a pretty good job of it over the years. It will never cease to amaze me how wonderful herbs are. For any given health problem I can reach in my own cupboard for the solution and get almost immediate results using the herbs of my choice. I don’t have to worry about any side effects because herbs really do what they say they do, and that is the effect we all deserve! I don't need any health care reform, I think I'm doing just fine!

Healthy Resolutions for the New Year

Three Day Cleanse: helps to eliminate the toxins out of the body. Great idea after eating refined and processed foods during the holidays. Kick start getting back to healthier eating habits with a three day cleanse.

Extended Herbal Cleanse: for people with long-standing health problems an extended herbal cleanse will help rid the body of chronic conditions or to prevent their occurrence. Everyone can benefit from this cleanse because even if we eat right we are still exposed to pollutants in the air we breath and the water we bathe in. The cleanse kit is the most affordable way to purchase the cleansing herbs.

Eat your healthy herbs: Vitalerbs & Jurassic Green are a great start to a healthy day. Vitamins & minerals that are plant based are quickly absorbed and easily digested to quickly get into the bloodstream. Other great plant based products are Earth’s Nutrition, Bountiful Blend & Alive Vitamins. Only whole food supplements can provide all the proper elements needed to assist in total health. Herbs have been utilized for their nutritional value for thousands of years.

Eat live foods: 70% of our diet should consist of fruits & vegetables. The balance of the meals contain nuts, seeds, whole grains and grass-fed hormone free meats. Stay away from processed foods, sugar, white flour, fried foods, etc. because these foods have no nutritive value and cause pain and disease.

Here are some great links to help you with diet changes:

Exercise daily: get into a good routine and keep moving! Stretching, weight lifting, rebounding & walking are all simple things that everyone can do. You are worth it! Take the time and you will find that it is one of the best things you can do for your health.

Sleep: the need for sleep differs from person to person, most people need between 8-10 hours of sleep a night. When we get enough rest we are more alert and perform better. If you have problems sleeping work on your diet and cleansing.
