Do It Yourself Summer Remedies

Make your own Summer Remedy Kit and be ready for bites, burns, scrapes, poison ivy, and bugs. It is always nice to be prepared!

Empty 1 oz. roller bottleSunburn Relief

45 drops Lavender
30 drops Myrrh
Fractionated coconut oil
1 oz. Roller Bottle

Add essential oils to roller bottle and top off bottle with your choice of carrier oil. I like liquid (fractionated) coconut oil for its long shelf life.

Apply topically as needed. Lavender heals burns - sunburn included and analgesic properties to help relieve the pain of sunburn. Myrrh is considered a "liquid band-aide" and is a superior healer of skin tissue. For severe burns seek medical attention and consider using this remedy in a spray bottle to avoid painful touch.

Great Gifts to make with Garden Essence Oils

DIY hand sanitizerDIY Hand Sanitizer
I love when a do-it-yourself project is so easy to do and so much better than what you can buy! This is the case with home-made hand sanitizer!  We have Hollie to thank for this little recipe that is so quick and easy to make, and so much nicer on your hands than store bought sanitizer.  We have empty bottles and other do-it-yourself items at Herbs First.

Hand Sanitizer - in a spray bottle fill half way with Aloe Vera Gel then fill with distilled water and add 25-30 drops of X-Plague oil blend per ounce of liquid.  My husband and I love this, and the aloe is so nice on the hands.

Air Freshener Spray  - fill bottle with distilled water and add oil of choice.  1 oz. spray bottle, use up to 5 drops of essential oil, 4 oz size use up to 20 drops of oil of choice.  I love the Citrus Blend, Christmas Joy, Alpine, South Seas, Pine, Spruce, etc.  Purchase oil blends or single oils.

Poo Spray
    5 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
    5 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
    5 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
    4 ounces of water
    4 oz. glass spray bottle

Fill the spray bottle with distilled water, add Essential Oils, and shake.  Before “nature calls”, shake the bottle and spray Poo Spray into the toilet bowl. Approximately 3 or 4 sprays should do it. Then do your “business”. The oils disperse over the water creating a barrier which traps stinky odors!

roller bottlesRoller bottles make a nice little gift.  Fill with a blend of your favorites.  15 ml. size - fill bottle with a carrier oil, I like to use the Nature's Way liquid coconut oil.  Add 10 drops of blend of choice.

1 oz. size, fill bottle with carrier oil and add 20 to 30 drops of essential oil of choice.

X-Plague – great to have on hand this time of year with so many germs around.

Strength – this is the ADD blend, helps with energy

No-Mo-Pain – for headaches and pain

Nite Cap – great little sleep aid, so easy to use from the roller bottle

Digestion – this is such a lifesaver! Love this blend, people will thank you!

Blue – use the 1 oz. size, fill with carrier oil and 30 drops of Blue Blend, great muscle relaxant and for muscle pain relief.

Bath Salt Crystals

    1 cup epson salt
    1 teaspoon vegetable glycerine
20 drops - essential oil of choice mixed into the glycerine

Slowly add the liquids to the salt and shake well until thoroughly absorbed – package in pretty bottle or cute bag. Use the entire contents in one bath.

Suggested oils:

Before Bed Blend
  - 5 drops Ylang Ylang, 15 drop Lavender

Energizing Blend – 12 drops Peppermint, 8 drops Lemongrass

Joggers Foot Bath Blend – 10 drops Rosemary, 6 drops Peppermint, 8 drops Lavender - use a few spoonfuls in a foot tub of water.
