Natural Remedies for Pain and Inflammation

My husband and I have gotten into biking since last August and we just love it! This year I got a new seat and didn’t realize that it was too far forward for me. My knees started hurting and I finally just put the old seat back on until I get things figured out. Unfortunately my knees were still bothering me and I figured out through a web search that I have runner’s knee, aka patella-femoral pain syndrome. This is pain in the kneecap and it is not fun. In order to heal I would have to stop cycling for awhile to let it heal. I didn't like that plan but decided to take a few days off and eat some healing “foods” to get my knees back to feeling better.

Western Botanicals Turmeric Combo    In reading about Western Botanicals Turmeric Combo I felt it would work the best to heal the pain and inflammation.  The Turmeric Combo contains: Turmeric, Frankincense, Ginger Root, White Willow Bark, Devils Club Root, Lobelia and Cayenne which are all wonderful herbs on their own, but in this formula they work synergistically together for quick relief. I am truly impressed with pain relief that I have had with just a few days on this formula. This has been a big seller at Herbs First and now I know why! I plan on taking until the healing is complete.
Garden Essence Oils Pain Anti Inflammatory blend
I am also treating my knees topically with my Coconut oil based BF&C ointment with Garden Essence’s Pain Anti-Inflammatory oil blend mixed in. Using the ointment with the Pain-Anti-Inflammatory blend and taking the Turmeric Combo the pain very slight when I tap on my knee caps. I only had to take a few days off to get the healing going and have no pain while riding and I am even taking my grandson with me in the bike trailer!

I love how fast the herbs and oils worked to relieve the pain and get me cycling again! I try to stay away from doctors and having the herbs and oils on hand for quick healing makes this possible!

I didn't know a sneeze could cause so much pain

Last Friday morning I had the windows open to take advantage of the nice little breeze.  A big wind came up and my husband ran around shutting all the windows, while I had a sneezing attack.  After sneezing about ten times I realized that I had thrown my back out in my “funny spot”.  This spot is in the lung area on my left side and it really isn’t funny when it goes out.  Every time I coughed or sneezed the pain was an intense stabbing pain.  Luckily I was able to get in to my Chiropractor,  he is the only Chiropractor that can ever get this spot back in for me.  I guess he is stuck with me, good thing he is younger than I am!!  After he got me all adjusted he asked if it felt better. I said no, but it never does feel better until I get some herbs in me to calm the muscles down.

I started taking the Complete Tissue and Bone Formula along with the Pain Relief Formula and Anti-Inflammation Formula.  By bedtime I was still hurting so took some Kava Kava* which will usually do the trick of relaxing the muscles.  I woke up in the morning feeling worse than the day before and felt bad all day long, especially when I sneezed or coughed. I  took it easy all day and continued with the herbs hoping that by the next morning I would feel better.  That night before bed I asked my husband to put the Deep Heat Ointment on my back.  When I woke up in the morning I was still hurting but not as bad.  I had my husband put Deep Heat Ointment on me again and by early afternoon I was feeling much better.  He put it on me again before bed just to make sure.

I had been thinking that I would have to go to the Chiropractor again on Monday, but when I got up this morning I felt great!  It is amazing the difference the Deep Heat Ointment made.  I sure wish I had used it Friday, but at least the herbs work when you finally use the right one!

I know people that have gone to the ER with problems like this.  They usually end up getting some muscle relaxant drugs, but to just walk into the ER is about $350.00.  My Chiropractic visit was $38.00 plus a few dollars in herbs.  I’m glad I know how to take care of myself, it sure saves us a lot of money!
Deep Heat is a Western Botanicals formula that I talked about a few months ago. You can read that blog here.  The $13.00 I spent on this bottle of Deep Heat Ointment has been so worth it! I love to use it on my shoulders and neck, it is so relaxing.  This is the best thing to relieve tired and sore muscles!

*Kava Kava
is a great muscle relaxant herb.
Kava Kava is available in capsules, bulk and extract.

Arthritis again???

Now is the best time to stock up on Christopher’s with the 40% off sale because at the first of the year there will be slight price increases on most of the product lines. The sale is good through December 31, 11:00 am Mountain Time.

I have been trying to get a newsletter out for the past few weeks, but my father’s health deteriorated quickly and I was able to go and spend some time with him in the last week. He passed away Dec. 16th, so we will be headed back up to Washington for the funeral.

I had been taking Mindtrac for quite a few months but I felt I was doing ok so I stopped taking it. Then the eye problem set in and I started having arthritis flare-ups and decided to reread the pages on Arthritis in the Nutritional Healing book. What jumped out at me is that often Arthritis is stress related! I would say that I have been under a good amount of stress the past few months.

I immediately started taking the Mindtrac again and adding Joint, Complete Tissue & Bone, Anti-Inflammation and Immucalm. It makes a big difference to be taking the herbs and makes me wonder if I wouldn’t have had these problems at all had I remained on the Mindtrac. It will remain a mystery but my guess is that I wouldn't have. I am still having some joint pain, but I think as we finish up my Dad’s funeral and life gets back to normal my body will come back into balance once again.

I am happy I have these wonderful formulas to help me get through these times. You can read more about my arthritis story on the Cleanse-Nourish-Heal website.
