Are guns the problem or is it psychiatric drugs?

    We have a link at Herbs First to David & Fawn Christopher’s A Healthier You radio show that is broadcast live on the internet on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 am Mountain Time - you can listen to the recording of the most recent show at the above link.  It is important for people to listen to this show, because David is talking about the fact that psychiatric drugs mess up people’s thought processes.  Many people have committed suicide that never had suicidal thoughts before medication.  Many of the people that are mentally unstable and on these medications are the ones that have gone into schools, movie theaters and malls,  killing people.  Mental issues can be corrected through diet and herbs without the violent side effects that medication has. David has done extensive research on the fact that the medication is the problem in these violent situations.  This is likely the only place you are going to hear this information.  Please note that only the newest show is available for free listening, the above post was the newest show when this blog was posted.  You may have to subscribe to access this show.

    The second half of the show David answers people’s questions.  This is often my favorite part of the show because you never know what he will end up talking about.  One caller was asking for help with arthritis and I learned a new way to treat it with David’s answer. He talked about using Immucalm, which I know is helpful, but in a larger dose than I would have thought to use.  This information is for any autoimmune disease from Chronic Fatigue, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Juvenile Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis and so on.  David suggests taking five capsules five times a day of Immucalm for two weeks and then go down to 3 capsules three times a day and see how you do on that dose.  If symptoms are worse going down then stay with the 5 caps five times for a while.  He says that it may take a year or so, but staying on the higher dose will help the over-active immune system to calm down and overcome the disease. Of course people need to be working on the diet as well, because diet is the main component to every healing program. If it is too costly to buy the capsules, get the bulk - purchase equal parts of Astragalus and Marshmallow and mix them together.  1/4 level teaspoon will be about equal to each capsule, so 1/2 tablespoon would be about 5 capsules.  These two herbs are very mild tasting, so I would just mix it in water and drink it down five times a day. A stick blender is the handiest gadget to have around for mixing herbs into juice or water and well worth the investment.

Use herbs from infancy to elderly

    Often people will ask if we have herbs that are suitable for infants and children.  Natural medicine is suitable for the youngest infant to the elderly. We have liquid formulas that would be easy to administer to an infant, child or an elderly person that has a hard time getting the capsules down.  The liquids get right to work as soon as they are in the system, so they really are the better way to take herbs.

    We took care of a an infant for a few days and I noticed that he was showing signs of getting sick.     Many of Christopher’s formulas are available in glycerine extract. Liquid herbs get into the system much faster and for cleansing herbs such as the Liver and Gall Bladder formula, it is best to taste the bitter herb which prepares the liver for the cleansing.  Herbs often are not very tasty, so be prepared for some interesting flavors.

To stitch or not to stitch....that is the question.

    I have to say that I am less than satisfied at how my hand healed with the stitches. I really wonder at this point if the result would have been much different if I had handled it myself.  I noticed the same problem years ago when my sons arm got cut when friend skied into him. After the stitches were out the cut popped back open. Stitches have to come out after a week, otherwise the skin grows through the stitches and getting them out would be a problem.  This cut was in such a tricky spot I felt I was better off getting them.  Once the stitches were out, the cut popped open.  Oh well, live and learn!

Sometimes I go to the doctor

I had a little kitchen mishap the other night while preparing dinner.  I had the disposal running while holding a knife.  The knife slipped and fell into the disposal and spun around and cut my hand.  I am the type of person that avoids going to the doctor unless it is absolutely necessary, but being a person that prefers self-doctoring it is also best to be wise about the situation.  The cut was in a tricky place, between my finger and thumb so I decided it best to go and get stitches. 

    We got to the Instacare where a doctor took a quick peek to make sure they could handle it and then I went to wait my turn in the waiting room. There were mostly parents with children. One child had an ear infection.  I mentioned to the mom that we were able to handle ear infections at home with Herbal Ear Drops.     I finally got my turn and talked a bit with the doctor as he stitched me up.  I learned that cuts need to be stitched within 12 hours.  If a person goes longer than that they will not stitch it due ito the chances of infection.  I was happy I got right in, because I knew this spot would just burst open over and over again since it is in such a high movement place.  I got 7 stitches and it cost a pretty penny since we are not insured. I'm changing the bandage twice or more a day and putting the Complete Tissue & Bone Ointment on it to aid in the healing. I did the right thing and I should be good to prepare a nice Thanksgiving Dinner for my family!

    I consider myself a student, because there is so much to learn about how to keep our bodies healthy, and every day I learn something new.  Friends often say to me,  you are always trying to be healthy, like that is a bad thing.      I love to travel and I am always worried before closing the suitcase if we packed everything,  mainly with having the herbs we may need! We did fine on our trip to Arizona this past week and found that we had the herbs that we needed in our handy little herb travel pack. I was concerned at one point that I didn’t have what I needed, I’ll tell you more about that later.

Nerve Formulas Heal Nerve Damage, Epilepsy, Tourettes, etc.

    I had a customer email today reporting that her sister had a tooth removed over a year ago and in the removal it ripped up her gums as well as the nerves with some being exposed.  The gum healed but she has been suffering terrible pain as well as seizures sometimes causing her to not be able to move her mouth and at times to speak. She has had doctors and dentists tell her that nothing is wrong with her and some even saying she is faking it!  It is experiences like this that converted me to natural healing, because there is always a cure with natural healing and they never treat you like you are crazy!

    I have had two dentists damage nerves that took some time to heal.  The first time I wasn’t using the herbs, I ended up with a numb face for about two years before it finally healed on its own.  The second adventure actually happened three times before I switched dentists.  When work had to be done the dentist ended up damaging nerves with the shots.  I used Relax-Eze to heal the problem, but it took a huge amount of it to heal - 4 capsules at least 4 times a day for six months!  Hard to believe that it took me three times to figure out the dentist was not good at all!  I have never had any problem since I switched to my present dentist.

    For the customer I let her know my story and suggested the Relax-Eze, having the patient work with the herbs to determine her dosage.  I like to start with 2 capsules, if that takes care of the pain then when the pain comes back take two again as needed until the healing occurs.  If two wasn’t enough, then try 3, then 4 and so on until you find the dosage.  Then take as needed for as long as needed.

Drafted into the Army, WWII

    In chapter two in the Herbal Legacy of Courage book we follow John as he is drafted into the Army. As a conscientious objector he was sent to Fort Lewis, where he was assigned to supervise a medical dispensary. It was frustrating for him to go from teaching people how to take care of themselves naturally to serving where he was denied the use of the herbal healing methods. 

    One morning while discussing the various cases they were faced with, John was finally given the opportunity to use natural healing methods with a man with a bad case of impetigo.  The man was going to be released from the army because nothing had worked to clear up the problem.  He refused to be released saying “I got this here, I’m not going to take this home to my family”.  John was given a week and no one believed that he could cure the man. He had Black Walnuts flown in overnight from Utah and made an extract with rubbing alcohol. He made a compress over the mans head with instructions to keep it wet with the tincture 24/7.  A week later everyone returned to see the results and as John lifted the compress off, the scab came off with it, and the soldier's scalp was clean and pure. The impetigo was gone, and had left no scarring.

    After that amazing result John was allowed to use his herbal medicine. His black walnut extract gained a widespread reputation, and he continued to use it to treat impetigo as well as fungus infection and jungle rot.
