When I was twenty I had a hyperactive thyroid. Since this was before I knew much about natural healing I went to doctor’s route with radioactive iodine to kill off part of the thyroid. Bad idea, and not one that I have been able to reverse through natural healing. Lesson learned, but due to a slow thyroid I have battled weight problems since that time and I’m not happy about it! I had about given up on weight loss, because everything I would try didn’t work for long. I started the HCG diet seventeen days ago and have lost 13 pounds so far. The first thing I have to say is this is a hard diet. You eat only 500 calories a day, which is a pretty small amount of food. I realized when I started this diet that I was "popping" food more than I thought, usually healthy food, but all those nuts I like to eat are high in calories. Even though it is hard I haven't cheated once and I am proud of that fact. You need to stick to the food menus and not deviate from them or you won’t lose weight. Your body becomes immune to hCG so you can only use hCG for 21 days or 42 days if you use it only 6 days week. After competing the cycle with hCG you need to stay on 500 calories for three days while the hCG gets out of your system. For the next three weeks increase your calories but not eat any sugar or starches, and for the three weeks following that you can start adding in sugar and starches. By sticking to the protocol you will lower your setpoint to accept the lost weight. You can then start another cycle when the six weeks are done, but the next cycle after that you need to add 2 more weeks onto the six for every cycle that you do. Hence, the third cycle would be 8 weeks after completing the hCG phase, 4th cycle would be 10 weeks after the hCG phase and so on.
This diet has been around since the 50’s in Europe and has continued to be a successful plan for many people. I know quite a few people that have had stomach by-pass surgery and none of them are healthy today. HCG is a much better alternative for people that want to lose weight quickly. There are many recipes on a blog to help you with meal planning. Planning is the key as well as sticking to the diet.
